Safety
Airbrush, paint and compressor safety
Airbrushing atomises paint into fine airborne droplets. Water-based does not mean safe to inhale, and compressor pressure adds mechanical hazards.
- Read the paint, thinner and cleaner safety data before spraying. Provide ventilation or local extraction appropriate to the product, volume and room, and keep other people and pets away until mist and vapour have cleared.
- Use correctly selected eye and respiratory protection when the assessment requires it. Filtering respirators are not suitable for spraying isocyanate paints; avoid such coatings in a casual hobby setup.
- Never spray toward skin or eyes. Depressurise the hose before disassembly, keep the needle cap on where practical, and handle the sharp needle by its blunt rear end.
- Use the correct UK-rated power supply, keep liquid away from electrical parts, allow ventilation around the compressor and follow its duty-cycle and tank-draining instructions.
- Do not mix cleaners or return thinned paint to the original bottle. Store labelled products closed and dispose of paint and solvent waste under local guidance.
